“If you're happy, tell your face.”

Amidst of the pernicious problems confronting the Black community,
we sometimes forget.
We forget to pause and celebrate our smiles, and the happiness and joy they represent. We allow our collective self-image to fall prey to
the debilitating drone of the "Evening Blues (News)" and those attempting to exploit its despair.
We forget to celebrate the small, but meaningful, victories that occur around us every day. The smiles of mothers, fathers, and
children forming loving families; the smiles of relatives and friends enjoying the bonds that bind them; the smiles from attainment of goals or completion of a job well-done; the smiles of service
to country or others because there was a need; the smiles borne of hope for nothing greater than "a better tomorrow", smiles which, along with many others, quietly persist without fanfare.
Without such smiles and the ability to maintain them through the travails of being "Black in America", where would we be? It always has been, and continues to be, these smiles which sustain
until larger, collective dreams, one by one, are realized.
While the "enlightened" plan and pontificate, it will be the bearers of these smiles who will actuate. Though historians and the media will focus on "heroes and leaders", it will
always be the anonymous bearers of these smiles who bring change to fruition.
We, at EBONYSMILES.COM, celebrate our smiles, and acknowledge the happiness and joy they reflect... despite the vicissitudes of the day. We are steadfast in our belief that smiles,
and the willingness to share them, will always be an integral component of meeting the future before us.

"A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.
None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it
is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give."
